FAQs

What do I need to avoid post-procedure?

For the first 48–72 hours after treatment, avoid:

  • Direct sun exposure and tanning (including self-tanners)

  • Hot tubs, saunas, and intense workouts

  • Harsh skincare products (exfoliants, retinols, acids, or scrubs)

  • Picking, scratching, or exfoliating treated areas

  • Makeup on broken or peeling skin

Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily, keep skin hydrated, and avoid introducing any new skincare actives until your skin feels completely calm.

Is the procedure painful?

Discomfort is generally mild and brief. Most patients describe IPL as feeling like a quick, warm snap against the skin.
Numbing is not typically needed, but a topical anesthetic can be applied for sensitive areas or first-time patients to ensure comfort.

Am I a candidate for IPL?

IPL works best for lighter to medium skin tones with visible sun damage, redness, or pigmentation. It is not recommended for very dark skin tones or those with a recent tan, as the light can be attracted to pigment and increase the risk of complications. Melasma patients can be treated cautiously, but IPL may sometimes worsen pigment if not properly managed.
A consultation is recommended to determine the safest and most effective plan for your skin type and goals.
